Donald Trump reportedly being investigated for possible obstruction of justice

Mr Mueller was appointed after James Comey, who originally oversaw the investigation, was removed from his role as FBI director by President Trump.

Former FBI Director James Comey told Congress last week he believes he was sacked by Trump to undermine the agency's Russian Federation probe.

Mueller, himself a widely respected former head of the FBI, has now taken up the angle of possible efforts by Trump to obstruct justice in the investigation, the Post said.

The NSA said in a statement that the "NSA will fully cooperate with the special counsel. We are not in a position to comment further".

The Post's sources said Coats, Rogers and Ledgett intend to appear voluntarily, but it is not clear how much information they would share or whether they would invoke executive privilege.

"When I chose to just do it, I said to myself, I said "You know, this Russian Federation thing with Trump and Russian Federation is a made up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won", Mr Trump told NBC.

Manchester United Have Just Announced Their First Signing Of The Summer
The 22-year-old has always been a target of manager Jose Mourinho, who decided against a move for the player in January. Manchester United on Saturday agreed a deal to sign Sweden defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica for £31m (35m euros).

On Mr. Rosenstein's first standard - legality - there is an argument that Mr. Trump would have the authority to dismiss Mr. Mueller, though doing so would not be simple.

Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel by the Justice Department after Mr Comey's sacking.

Trump has said he was going to fire Comey no matter what, and also has acknowledged that the "Russia thing" was on his mind when he made the final termination call.

A person close to Trump's legal team said earlier Tuesday that there have been no discussions about firing Mueller with the legal team. That prompted Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint Robert Mueller - himself a former Federal Bureau of Investigation director - as special counsel the following week. During that testimony, Comey also revealed that he had leaked a memo containing his notes from a February 14 meeting with Trump.

Officials told the Post that investigators were interested in a March 22 conservation during which Trump allegedly pulled Coats aside and discussed the Russian Federation investigation. Officials say that changed shortly after Comey's firing. Reporter Tony Mauro noted the addition of Dreeben may signal that "Mueller may be seeking advice on complex areas of criminal law, including what constitutes obstruction of justice".
