Arsenal hoping to land Sunderland pair in double deal

According to the Sunderland Echo, Arsenal are in pole position for the teenager and are targeting a double swoop for him and fellow Sunderland starlet, Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka.

And now Asoro has confirmed Arsenal are interested in signing him, but admits the news of their pursuit came as a surprise.

"It came as a shock".

"People were a little shocked because I have played very little first-team football", he told reporters.

As such, the striker is not getting ahead of himself as a result of his lack of game time. It is clear clubs contact each other and stuff, but it's my agent in charge of it. I try not to think about it too much.

Through 42 2/3 innings, he struck out 58 while walking just 16. "He's been working on his control all year", Nomicos said. Asking a team to add over a hundred thousand dollars to a contract was not easy, and it didn't always happen.

Joel Asoro was watched by Southampton, Everton and Liverpool last season, with the 18-year-old becoming Sunderland's youngest ever Premier League player when he appeared in the first team last season.

The 18-year-old lit up the Under-23 league last term, bagging 15 goals in total - earning a Premier League debut under David Moyes as well.

Following Sunderland's relegation and the probability that they will make more use of their youth system in the Championship, Asoro was expected to be more of a regular but he might not get that chance.

"It's not something you can decide now", Asoro said when quizzed about his future. It does not develop me I need to find something else if we cannot agree. "I try to focus on my football".
