Ed Sheeran receives MBE in Queen's Birthday honour

Veteran actor Olivia de Havilland, the only survivor of the four main stars of the 1939 blockbuster "Gone With the Wind" is set to become a dame, along with actors Julie Walters and June Whitfield.

In an unusual move, the Queen's Civilian Gallantry List was released at the same time as the monarch's birthday honours.

Over 1000 people have been honoured as part of the Queen's Birthday Honour's list, which recognises the incredible achievements of people around the UK.

Bethan Harding, the head of primary years at Bede Academy in Blyth, has been made an MBE for services to education.

PC Palmer, who was tragically murdered during the Westminster terror attack, was also recognised for his incredibly courageous actions in the Queen's birthday honours list.

The 72-year-old is also a former chairman of the Pewsey Carnival Committee and to this day continues to take informal positions to ensure the carnival is a roaring success.

"I do what I love and I love what I do, so I feel very lucky to have been given this honour", she said.

Also honoured is Anne Campbell Bradley, from Henley-in-Arden, who is made MBE for charitable services in Warwickshire.

"I am a strong believer in team work and see this as a tribute to many brilliant and dedicated people who have worked with me over the years".

Meanwhile, Andy Murray's mum and Strictly star Judy Murray has become an OBE, in recognition of her work to grow tennis and to encourage more women to partake in sport.

Gloria Hunniford receives an honour following 70 years in showbusiness.

Former Rugby League player Terry Flanagan was awarded an MBE for services to Rugby League and to charity in the North West.

Paul McCartney and Delia Smith have also been made Companions of Honour in this year's list.

A host of artists and music business executives have picked up gongs in the 2017 Queen's Birthday Honours.

Gracehill man James Perry has also been honoured with an MBE.

Half of this year's honorees are women, while 10 per cent are from black and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
