Floyd Mayweather says he accepted Conor McGregor fight as fans wanted it

The fight is expected to take place at the renowned MGM Grand Garden or T-Mobile Arena.

With Mayweather and McGregor now set to dominate virtually every combat sports publication for the next few months, credit should be given where it is due to the semi-retired Nate Diaz, who took full advantage of the announcement and made a characteristically hilarious post at the expense of both of the men who are set to compete.

Instead of highlighting the age difference between his fighter and Mayweather, Coach Kavanagh insinuated that Mayweather behaves like a 12-year-old, with a tweet that said: "if u ever wondered how a 12yr old boy would act if they suddenly had a lot of money #MayweatherIsMentallyChallenged".

Mayweather, who retired in 2015 with an unbeaten record of 49-0, and UFC lightweight champion McGregor will clash in a 12-round fight in Las Vegas on August 26 after teasing the event for almost a year.

The relentless reaction Leonard Ellerbe has received from fans since the Mayweather-McGregor drama began late previous year made the Mayweather Promotions CEO realize just how huge the event could become. After earning $34 million a year ago, per Forbes, McGregor could wind up tripling that amount for the Mayweather bout alone.

Mayweather last fought in September 2015, beating Andre Berto and then announcing his retirement.

'Trooping the color' in London for queen's official birthday
Prime Minister Theresa May woke up Saturday to an onslaught directed at her and the Conservative government in the national media. The Queen used her official birthday to award the police officer killed in March's Westminster attack with a posthumous honour.

Financial terms were not released, though Mayweather got the greater share of revenue when he fought Manny Pacquiao and is expected to have a similar percentage against McGregor.

Though oddsmakers make Mayweather a big favorite, the thought of the fight has excited many in the MMA world.

The fight will be McGregor's first in boxing as he's one of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world.

Even if the actual bout may not shape up as a great matchup, the run-up to the fight will.

The pay-per-view revenue for the event would likely gross tens of millions of dollars.
