Trump lawyer denies president is a probe target

Earlier this week, when a Washington Post report was seemingly confirmed by the President himself on Twitter, it looked like Donald Trump was being investigated for obstruction of justice in the wake of his firing former F.B.I. director James Comey during the still-ongoing Russian Federation investigation.

Rubio says Trump firing former FBI Director James Comey hasn't impeded the FBI's or the Senate intelligence committee's investigations into Russia's role in the 2016 campaign.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) said Friday that Congress would come together and "begin impeachment proceedings" against President Trump if he fired special counsel Robert Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

As for Trump's repeated criticism of the "witch hunt" against him, Sekulow told NBC's Meet The Press: "He's not afraid of the investigation".

President Donald Trump angrily decried as a "distraction" the "witch hunt" against him Sunday, as his lawyer insisted the U.S. leader was not under criminal investigation in the sweeping probe of Russian meddling in American elections.

"Let me be clear here", he said.

Not surprisingly, most of the hosts interviewing Sekulow on Sunday morning started by taking the president at his word that he is "being investigated".

"That tweet was in response to a Washington Post story that ran with five unnamed sources", Mr Sekulow told CNN.

President Donald Trump acknowledged for the first time Friday that he is under federal investigation as part of the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling.

Japan's exports surge in May
Japan's trade surplus with the May rose 19.0% to Y411.1 billion, rising for the first time in three months. Exports to China increased 23.9 percent year-on-year in May, following a 14.8 percent annual increase in April.

When Wallace called him on it, Sekulow said he was just laying out the legal theory in play, but he had not prefaced the statements that way.

In a report on the outlet's Sunday show, "This Week", ABC News senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas said his choice will be "momentous". However, that argument conveniently ignores that Comey was sacked more than a month ago, prior to the appointment of Mueller, and most importantly, that Comey's firing itself could have been the reason for opening an investigation into Trump's possible obstruction of justice.

"The president wants to take down Bob Mueller". But America's laws today are a web in which even the most innocuous citizen can get tangled-a citizen who has business dealings with figures as corrupt as many Russian businessmen and officials tend to be is nearly certainly open to prosecution on one technicality or another, as is anyone who talks to federal investigators and tells even the smallest of lies.

The president has directed some of his frustration at Rosenstein and Mueller. Sen.

President Donald Trump's lawyer adamantly denied on Sunday that the president is under investigation, despite the president's tweets this week referring to one as a "witch hunt", NBC News reported. "If Mueller thinks there is evidence that obstruction occurred, Mueller's job is to investigate".

The lawyer also said it was unlikely that any obstruction probe would not examine Trump. "We're agreed, then", Wallace said.

Sekulow has publicly criticised Comey, whom Trump fired.

The White House has directed questions for details to outside legal counsel, which has not responded.

The source familiar with the Mueller probe told Reuters that Mueller was also examining whether Trump or others tried to interfere with the investigation. He has already been subpoenaed by the House intelligence committee. Angus King of ME, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.
