Cindy Now a Tropical Depression

In fact, the remnants of Cindy will get absorbed by this next front and so some of our rain Friday night and early Saturday will again - indirectly - come from the decaying tropical system as it rides the front from Tennessee up into Virginia Saturday morning. Winds of around 35 miles per hour accompanies the heavy rainfall as Cindy moves inland at a speed of around 13 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Some street and coastal flooding has been reported.

A viewer of WBRC tweeted an image of what appears to be a tornado touching down in the Ensley area.

Power outages in the area of the storm were minimal on Thursday morning.

"It's pretty disgusting, but I don't have flood insurance because they took me out of the flood zone", said Bertucci, whose store is near a bayou. Several roads in coastal areas remain closed because of high water.

So there are many reasons to think Cindy will bring us a period of showers starting Thursday evening and extending as late as Saturday morning, but that it will not bring the Roanoke and New River valleys and Southwest Virginia extreme flooding that often occurs here with the inland remnants of tropical systems. We're Weather Aware on Saturday for the possibility of afternoon storms and heavy rain. Cindy dropped 6.8 inches of rain on Prattville, AL.

By midday Thursday the storm had cut Gulf of Mexico oil production by 16 percent, representing around 288,000 barrels per day of output, the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said. He died at the scene.

Kerner said he's concerned that fast-rising water might affect homes and automobiles throughout the town and surrounding areas - even those protected by levees. Johnson said waves will be higher than normal because of the astronomical effects of Friday's new moon. Months earlier, following deadly flooding in Texas, residents also reported seeing droves of ants in flooded yards.

The storm's effects have been felt along a long swath of the coast because the storm is disorganized. An unidentified man looks at a truck that was crushed by a falling tree in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

The Tropical Storm Warning has ended for Orleans Parish, but remains for lower Jefferson Parish.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, said Nick Dyer, police chief in Fairfield, where the tornado hit.

Some parts of MS have reported up to eight and a half inches of rain since Cindy's arrival, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbot has raised the readiness level of Texas' State Operations Center in response to the onslaught of heavy rain and high winds.
