Some Dems Want Pelosi Out as House Minority Leader

In an appearance on "Fox & Friends" that aired on Friday, Trump said he would like Pelosi to stay right where she is because she has an "extraordinary record against her". As the president sent out tweet, his son Donald Trump Jr. made a decision to do the same on June 21.

The hosts of "The View" on Wednesday had plenty to say about the Democrats' most recent election loss in Georgia - and Joy Behar even admitted the party's anti-Donald Trump platform doesn't appear to be working.

"I think you'd have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top", Democrat Rep. Filemon Vela of Texas told Politico. "But she certainly is one of the reasons".

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Pelosi said Democrats are proud of the race they ran and she dispelled a question about stepping down. "We're not focusing on the economic messages".

"Usually they go after the most effective leaders because they want to diminish the opportunity that we have", Pelosi said.

Democrats also lost a special election in SC on Tuesday, where Republican Ralph Norman prevailed over Democrat Archie Parnell in a seat formerly held by Republican Mick Mulvaney, who is now Mr Trump's budget director.

Pelosi became the leader of House Democrats in 2003.

She also said Democrats' losing streak, from the 2016 presidential election to all of the special elections held this year, would soon come to an end.

Just hours before the news conference, moderate Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice of NY reiterated her call that it was time for Pelosi to step aside.

"But I take their insult against my city as a bankruptcy of values on their part not to recognize the greatness of the city I represent", she said.
