Collins: Trump should give clear answer on Comey tapes

Former FBI director James Comey has been asked to provide any notes or memoranda related to discussions with President Donald Trump, to the ongoing investigation into Russia's involvement in the election. And in what Mr. Comey described as a pivotal conversation, where he perceived the President was suggesting that the investigation of General Flynn be dropped, Comey said nothing.

Questioned about Comey's central claim that Trump told him to lay off Flynn, the president responded: "I didn't say that".

"Lordy, I hope there are tapes", James Comey said when asked if the president suggested he may have recorded their phone conversations.

Collins said on Sunday that if the tapes exist, Trump should hand them over both to the Senate Intelligence Committee and to the special counsel conducting the probe into Russia's interference in the presidential election.

"When he tells you to do something, guess what?"

"Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction", Trump said at a news conference in the White House Rose Garden with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Friday, June 9.

During nearly three hours of statements Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey described himself as "stunned" by Trump's "very disturbing" and "very concerning" behavior towards him.

Russian Federation has denied interferin in last year's presidential elections, as has the White House.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication".

About 46 percent of Americans said Comey is more honest and trustworthy than Trump, while 26 percent said the opposite. "I mean, I will tell you, I didn't say that".

Comey said it should be special counsel Robert Mueller's task to determine whether Trump had obstructed justice, and therefore, had opened himself up to possible impeachment proceedings, keeping the allegations on Russian Federation in mind. "I think he's proven himself to be a dishonest man of bad character", Trump said.

Earlier, Trump fired off an early morning tweet in which he said he had been "vindicated" by the James Comey hearing, adding that the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director was a "leaker".
