Jordan Spieth nails winning shot from bunker and celebration

Jordan Spieth pulled off a stunning win Sunday at the Travelers Championship with a hole-out from the bunker on the first sudden-death playoff hole against Daniel Berger.

He's making his first start PGA Tour Champions start since 2015.

Jordan Spieth won the Travelers Championship after holing an incredible shot from the bunker in a play-off.

The 43-year-old Weekley, who has slipped to 390th in the world rankings, is gunning for his fourth tour title and first since winning at Colonial in 2013. Still just 23 years old for the next month, he now joins Tiger Woods as the only golfer since 1983 to win a double-digit number of tournaments before turning 24 years old.

"That was one for the ages", said Spieth, also a victor at Pebble Beach in February.

Playing the par-4 18th as the first playoff hole, Spieth chipped in for birdie from the sand to earn his victory. He closed with an even-par 70 to match Berger at 12-under 268.

He began the week with the same TaylorMade Spider model that he'd used while missing the cut at last week's U.S. Open, then switched to a half-mallet version for the third round before changing yet again Sunday.

"I just wanted to mix it up and go back to something that looked a little more familiar", said McIlroy, who still needed 30 putts in the round.

"And Jordan does Jordan things, so there's not really much you can say". I didn't think 12 under would win today and it was hard enough to hold him to that'.

He survived another setback with a bogey on the 14th but bounced back immediately, as he tended to do all tournament, with a birdie on the next hole before going on to play to par till the end. Spieth's drive clipped a tree to the left and landed in the fairway, but about 150 yards short of his normal drive and 230 yards from the hole.

The American then holed from the same bunker in the first round of the play-off to go one shot ahead.

Jordan Spieth on Sunday won his second PGA Tour event of the season in dramatic fashion.

Yang finished with a 64, and Jutanugarn had a 66. He birdied the 15th to get back to even for the day. My wife and I really enjoy coming here. What an amphitheater. What a tremendous last four holes, finishing holes, where you can get the crowd super involved with an amphitheater setting.

"Boog has got ice in his veins", Spieth said. "It's the scoring part".

"I love this place", Reed said.

"I didn't know what [score] was leading and what I was at, so I just kept playing golf and I had a pretty good result, I guess", Lee said.
