Bertrand Traore Officially Completes Transfer to Lyon from Chelsea

Lyon have signed striker Bertrand Traore to a five-year deal from Chelsea for €10 million, the club announced.

In the past, Chelsea made the mistake of not putting a buy-back clause in Romelu Lukaku's contract when he signed for Everton three years ago.

The Burkina Faso global spent last season on loan at Ajax, scoring nine Eredisivie goals and adding a further four to help the team reach the Europa League final, where they lost 2-0 to Manchester United.

Lyon's latest acquisition does raise questions over the future of Alexandre Lacazette; their current first choice striker.

As confirmed by Lyon's official website, Chelsea included a 15% sell-on clause in the deal.

The 21-year-old officially signed for Lyon on Monday night after the Ligue 1 giants had agreed a fee, believed to be in the region of £8.8m, with the Premier League champions. The Burkina Faso player scored 9 goals and added 2 assists in 24 Eredivisie games, and was even more impressive in the Europa League, with 4 goals and 4 assists in 13 games in the competition.

"With Ajax, we had a bit of a similar style of play and that enticed me to come here".

He told OLTV: "I am very happy to be here, to be Lyonnais".

"I am coming to bring something extra to OL and I hope to continue progressing and to learn with the coach and my new teammates".

"I have time to show everyone what I can do and what I am worth".
