The Macon County Sheriff's Office said it has so far gotten 34 noise complaints about fireworks this year. With the memory of last summer's Table Rock Fire still fresh, officials are asking people to be mindful of where they detonate their pyrotechnics. According to the National Fire Protection Agency, emergency departments across the country will treat hundreds to thousands of people injured from illegal fireworks.

When igniting, wear safety goggles and close-toed shoes.

Children should be closely supervised around fireworks and shouldn't be allowed to handle or ignite them.

IL is one of seven states that bans the sale, use and possession of consumer fireworks.

"Only individuals 18 years of age or older may purchase fireworks", said Washington Fire Chief Dave Rhoads.

People living in North Dakota will be able to buy fireworks in the state up until July 5th.

Fireworks have always been a part of Independence Day holiday festivities.

Fireworks are also very different then thunderstorms.

Misuse of fireworks which results in death, injury or property loss shall incur civil or criminal liability.

In 2014, US hospital emergency rooms saw an estimated 10,500 people for fireworks-related injuries, said the Fireworks Annual Report.

Fireworks are great for family fun, but they can be risky when you don't play by the rules.

Although popping fireworks can be a fun and exciting time to spend with family and friends, it is also a unsafe event that can cause injury or death in the event it is not safely performed.

Have a bucket of water, garden hose, or fire extinguisher available in the immediate area.

Officials ask the public to not try to reignite a firework that doesn't go off, but rather douse it in water.

Safe and Sane Fireworks, the only kind of fireworks that can be sold, are different from the unsafe and illegal fireworks in that once they are lit, they do not explode or leave the ground, Dublin city officials said.

Do not use homemade fireworks, professional fireworks or illegal explosives; they can kill you!

Remember, be smart and safe on the Fourth of July!

In Arlington County, fireworks that are projectiles, explode, emit flames or sparks to a distance greater than twelve (12) feet are prohibited.

Never attempt to relight a "dud" firework.

"Trying to do it yourself seems simple", Lopez said.

"We'll have extra guys manning our brush trucks in case of a grass fires and just extra personnel on duty", Fulton said.

Fireworks should be used ona flat, firm surface such as the ground of a driveway.
