He said the "grand and warm welcome" extended to Modi by the White House and the US President speaks for the rising importance of India in the global economic and geo-political order.

The comments came as Modi came to Washington looking to revitalize a relationship that had flagged as Trump looked to build a strong relationship with India's rival, China.

Trump treated Modi to cocktails and dinner at the White House on Monday night after their meeting and shared a laugh when he pointed to their social media dominance.

"To this end, the United States and India plan to undertake a comprehensive review of trade relations with the goal of expediting regulatory processes; ensuring that technology and innovation are appropriately fostered, valued, and protected; and increasing market access in areas such as agriculture, information technology, and manufactured goods and services", it said.

Modi also separately invited Trump's daughter Ivanka to the USA delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India that will be held later this year. Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said it is "sheer jealousy and guilt" of the grand old party that it is deliberately refusing to see and believe the significant outcomes of this visit.
