"I played unbelievably well".

Roger Federer from Switzerland returns the ball to Karen Khachanov from Russian Federation during the ATP tournament tennis match in Halle, western Germany, on June 24, 2017. This was their third meeting and the second win for Roger, who lost to Sascha in the semi-final here 12 months ago. Both players have been in exceptional form this year with Federer winning his 18Grand Slam while Zverev won his first Masters 1000 title at Rome. It was quite quick, and usually in doubles the points are a little bit shorter. At 35, the Swiss player became the oldest victor of the grass-court tournament. Zverev also beat Federer only a year ago in Halle, outlasting Federer in a three-set semifinal to reach the 2016 final. He tried his best to upset Federer's flow.

Federer did not participate in the French Open after winning back to back titles, starting from the Australian Open, Indian Wells and then Miami.

"I as very calm out there, even in hard moments". "So I'm happy to react right away and let that be forgotten and actually move on and remind myself I actually can play well on grass".

Gasquet will play his first Halle semi-final since 2013 against either German fourth seed Alexander Zverev or Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut.
