Iran: US travel ban is 'racist' and 'unfair'

The challenge for immigration officials, Bauer said, is in defining what will qualify as a connection for people from those countries seeking entry to the U.S. The Iranian engineer and Clemson University graduate had been unable to return to the United States because of Trump's executive order.

During a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, President Donald Trump closed arms deals worth almost $110 billion. "The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals certainly believed that it was based on discrimination against Muslims which is why the original travel ban had a carve-out for religious minorities, meaning non-Muslims living in those six Muslim countries".

The President maintains that the steps were necessary in order to revise security screening to safeguard the nation from external threats. Both rulings were upheld by separate appeals courts.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday that the court order demonstrates the USA administration's will to discriminate against Muslims and treat them unfairly, contrary to the American statesmen's claims.

The State Department has said that the few remaining refugees to be admitted this year will not have to prove a "bona fide relationship".

They announced that more rallies would be held and warned all other parties against taking part in any fresh elections to the GTA. The protests and an indefinite strike for a separate Gorkhaland in Darjeeling hills have been going on for the past 15 days.

The exception will be those residents of the forbidden countries that have any relationship with the USA citizens, the prohibition against them is declared invalid by the court. It will now take effect in 72 hours, under the terms of a memo issued by Trump this month.

In his reaction, Trump said the unanimous Supreme Court decision "is a clear victory for our national security."‎.

"It is regrettable that the U.S. government is ignoring the major perpetrators of the terrorist acts in the United States and gives [the world] a wrong address in broad daylight in pursuit of its shortsighted economic and business goals".

The justices are expected to hear the travel order case later this year, but noted that they will also consider whether the case will be moot at that point.

Some refugee resettlement agencies have tried to make up for the low numbers by accelerating resettlement after courts blocked the travel ban. This is due to their potential inability to prove a relation to the United States that the court's ruling calls for.
