New York Knicks: Phil Jackson and the wrath of James Dolan

Despite many public proclamations that Jackson will remain in charge until the end of his contract, Knicks owner James Dolan is reportedly expected to part ways with Jackson "early Wednesday morning", according to ESPN's Ramona Shelbune.

Dolan praised Jackson's legacy in basketball and thanked him for his "service" to the Knicks.

Jackson has faced increased scrutiny in recent weeks, stemming from his clash with Anthony and the revelation that Jackson was fielding offers for Porzingis as the Knicks looked to move up in this year's draft. "I wish them and the Knicks organization all the best - today and always".

Ever since Jackson was hired, the Knicks were a tragic 80-166 in three full seasons. Phil Jackson was definitely right about what a wrong decision it would be for Phil Jackson to lead that Knicks team!

Here's more from CBS New York... Jackson confirmed that the Knicks were getting calls on Porzingis, while also expressing disappointment that he had skipped his exit interview.

In mid-April it was reported that the Knicks and Jackson agreed to pick up the option on the final two seasons of his contract, which was valued at $24 million.

Iranian FM calls US travel ban 'misplaced'
But the court excluded from the ban individuals who have a " bona fide " relationship with families or institutions in the U.S. The court ruled, "The interest in preserving national security is an urgent objective of the highest order".

The timing of Jackson's departure was not ideal, coming days after the draft and less than a week from Sunday's start of free agency.

It has worked for the Giants, the only New York-area team to win a championship this decade, and for Dolan's own Rangers, the most consistent winners among NY teams of the 2010s.

The Knicks are hesitant on giving Carmelo Anthony the buyout because they think he would bolt immediately to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play with LeBron James. He said publicly that "we need players that are really active" and Anthony is a player that would "be better off somewhere else".

Stugotz believes the Knicks should replace Jeff Hornacek with either Jeff Van Gundy or Mark Jackson and make a run at free agent point guard Chris Paul.

"I mean, he's known as the Zen Master, like a master talker, and then he's not talking to anybody", McEnroe said of Jackson. But after the Knicks went a franchise-worst 23-59, Brown was sacked.

Now, my personal view on this is that the days of a big city attracting free-agents and executives just due to their location are long gone. In addition to being the owner New York basketball teams, he is governor of the NHL's New York Rangers, the President and CEO of Cablevision Systems Corporation, Executive Chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company and CEO of Cablevision - until it was sold in June 2016.
