Sublime Srikanth lifts Australian Open Super Series

Kidambi Srikanth stunned Olympic champion Chen Long to win the Australian Open Super Series title. He had lost to compatriot B Sai Praneeth in the final of the Singapore Open earlier this year before winning the Indonesia Open last week.

Meanwhile, this was Srikanth's third Super Series Premier title as he has also emerged champion at the 2014 China Open Super Series Premier. Srikanth Kadambi has won back to back to Open Series in Indonesia and Australia.

Though Srikanth has beaten top players of the world once in a while in the past, the Guntur-born is now making it a regular habit. He is also the first Indian men's singles player to win two back-to-back Super Series titles.

Srikanth had a comfortable lead towards the end of the game which helped him get past Chen easily. He then defeated Chinese World No 4 Shi Yuqi before eventually moving past Chen Long.

Ace badminton player Kidambi Srikanth has swiftly exploded on the worldwide stage.

Kidambi Srikanth took the initial lead in the first set before Chen Long made a spirited comeback.

Maybe Sony agreed to let Marvel slip in this little Easter egg, or maybe Marvel just snuck it in without telling them. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the standard-bearer for interconnected film franchises for some time now.

The second game saw a much improved performance from the Indian.

Kidambi Srikanth stayed committed in his dominating run to clinch the Australian Open Super Series men's singles final. But the Indian was no pushover and played the catch-up game quite well, coming up with a couple of brilliant smashes of his own.

The second game began with a fiery baseline rally that ended with Srikanth smashing his way to earn the first point.

Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara earlier downed Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 21-23, 21-17 in an all-Japanese women's final.

Celebrities like Prime Miniter Narendra Modi, India's cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, sports minister Vijay Goel took to their official Twitter handle to praised the shuttler.

Sarma was delighted at Srikanth's feat and congratulated him after his wonderful win. It did not matter to Srikanth that he was pitted against a genius like the Chinese Lin Dan, a world champion multiple times, in the final.
