'Mamma Mia' sequel casts 'Baby Driver's Lily James

Lily James is also on board to play the younger version of Streep's character.

The sequel to the hit musical movie Mamma Mia has gained two more cast members.

Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) is writing the screenplay for the film. James will play "Young Donna".

Numerous original cast members, including Streep, 67, Amanda Seyfried, 31, Colin Firth, 56, and Pierce Brosnan, 64, and Dominic Cooper, 38, are set to reprise their respective roles in the sequel/prequel.

Deadline reports that actress Lily James, now starring on the big screen in BABY DRIVER, will show off her vocal chops in Universal's recently announced musical sequel to MAMMA MIA, subtitled 'Here We Go Again.' She joins previously announced cast members Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski and Pierce Brosnan. It earned over $600 million for Universal.

Moon Express also revealed more detail on the crafts that have been developed to achieve these lofty goals. The MX-1E is now in testing and might launch for the first time later this year.

The movie is to go back and forth in time to see how previous relationships have changed, but exact story details are not yet known.

ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus are back to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers alongside Judy Craymer, who created the stage musical, and Gary Goetzman.

Universal's senior vp production Kristen Lowe and creative executive Lexi Barta will oversee production for the studio.

U.S. movie news website The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news of the British actress's casting, stating that she had signed on to appear in the Universal film. She'll next be seen in the drama Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman, Guernsey and Little Woods. James is repped by UTA and Tavistock Wood Management in the United Kingdom.
