The Ghanaian giants were befallen by calamity after the team bus of the Porcupine Warriors had an accident in Nkawkaw en route to Kumasi following a league game in Accra.

The team's bus ran into a stationary KIA truck close to Nsawam in the Eastern Region, leaving all passengers on board with various degrees of injury and one person dead.

"Injured players and officials were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw".

The statement added that the team's coach, Steven Polack, Team Manager, Godwin Ablordey, a midfielder, Ollennu Ashiley and the bus driver, Nana Berkye were on admission receiving treatment.

The PLB has directed all club officials and players to wear red and black armbands during the seven games, in addition to the observation of a minute's silence before kickoff in honour of the departed Kotoko official. "However, in the absence of adequate measures to remove such dangers, caution on the road needs to be exercised by all and sundry to ensure lives are protected when plying all roads in Ghana", the statement said.
