Knicks discussing deal to make Kings VP Scott Perry new GM

This report comes on the heels of discussions breaking down between the Knicks and former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin.

According to the report, Sacramento granted permission to NY, allowing him to chase the high profile position Wojnarowski deemed, "a dream job".

According to Wojnarowski, the Knicks' interest in Perry was in large part due to the fact that he apparently has no interest in shaking things up.

Scott Perry reportedly reached an agreement with the New York Knicks to take over as their general manager, CSN Chicago's Vincent Goodwill reported Thursday.

The Sacramento Kings granted the Knicks permission to meet with Perry, and the two sides sat down in NY on Thursday, league sources said.

Perry's hiring should bring stability to the Knicks' front office as the franchise looks to build a roster capable of competing for a title.

The Kings reportedly gave the Knicks permission to talk to Perry.

The Magic fired GM Rob Hennigan and Perry on April 13 after five seasons in their respective jobs.

Perry is the Sacramento Kings' vice president of basketball operations. Phil Jackson was dismissed as president of basketball operations shortly before the free-agency period.

A league source has confirmed to NBC Sports California that Kings have been supportive of Perry throughout the process.

Perry served as the assistant general manager for the Seattle SuperSonics for one season (2007-08) on the staff that drafted Kevin Durant at No. 2.
