Real Madrid agree deal to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Betis

Real Madrid had an off field contest against arch-rivals Barcelona for Cabellos, but the Madrid based club has succeeded in their attempts to lure the midfielder to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid on Friday announced that Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos has signed a six-year contract with the record European football champions.

"The player will be presented on Thursday, July 20, at 1:00 p.m., in the arena of honor of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium".

"Real Madrid and Real Betis Balompie have agreed the transfer of the player Dani Ceballos, who will be connected to the [Bernabeu] club for the next six seasons".

He will then fly to the United States the next day to link up with the rest of the squad for pre-season training and tour friendlies.

Madrid activated his €15m release clause but will end up paying an extra €3m with other clauses included, according to reports in Spain.

Ceballos joins Madrid two days on from James Rodriguez's surprise departure to Bayern Munich on an initial two-year loan deal.

Ceballos's signing is the latest sign of manager Zinedine Zidane's side's attempt to shore up the best young talent in Spanish football and follows the capture of 19-year-old left back Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid earlier in July.
