Veteran stuntman seriously injured on 'The Walking Dead' set

While he was filming the eighth season of the hit series, Bernecker reportedly fell over 20 feet to a concrete floor below him. Known for being a zombie apocalypse show that centers on death, death, and even more death, the set was considered to be an entirely safe place despite the relatively unsafe environment that takes place within the show.

A stuntman was critically injured at Raleigh Studios in Senoia, on the set of "The Walking Dead", Wednesday.

The Louisiana native, believed to be in his early 30s, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with a serious head injury.

'We have been informed of a serious injury to a SAG-AFTRA member on the set of The Walking Dead and are investigating the situation, ' the spokesperson said in the statement. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production.

SAG-AFTRA, which represents stunt professionals, said it is investigating the accident.

While they locked down nominations in a few major acting categories, they were not nominated in any of the best show categories. Stranger Things and This Is Us see the light of day under the 'Outstanding Drama Series , ' while Sterling K.

"We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers", the statement added.

According to TheHollywood Reporter, the stuntman's partner Jennifer Cocker posted on Facebook voicing distress about the accident.

Unfortunately, thoughts and prayers may not be enough, as Deadline is reporting that Bernecker is brain dead and on life-support.

The Walking Dead season 8 premieres this October on AMC.

Bernecker garnered his first credit for Anytown back in 2009, and has since earned 92 stunt credits, while working on many of our favorite titles, including Logan, The Hunger Games, and the upcoming Black Panther.
