Wimbledon: Sister Serena is helping me, insists record-seeking Venus Williams

2015 runner-up Muguruza earlier swept past unseeded Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1 6-1 in 65 minutes in one of the most one-sided semi-finals in Wimbledon history.

Lifting the Venus Rosewater Dish would make Williams the oldest All England Club champion in the Open era, breaking her sister Serena's record.

The 87-ranked Rybarikova can still take a huge amount of pride from such an unexpected run on the grass in south west London, having been as low as 453rd in the world in March following a seven-month absence due to wrist and knee injuries.

"Usually it's her in these finals", Venus Williams said immediately after the match in a BBC television interview, "so I'm going to represent the Williamses as best I can".

Konta had been relaxing between matches by baking muffins for her support team, but getting past Williams was never going to be a piece of cake.

"I've played some good tennis in different points of my life", Williams said in somewhat of an understatement.

By then, it seemed only a matter of time before Konta would crack, which she did when she went 0-40 down when serving to save the set. "When she puts herself in a position to do that, she plays with a lot of depth, a lot of speed, and you don't get much of a chance to get your, I guess, grip into the points". I tried to do the things she would do.

One time we had some sausage, brisket and a lot of other stuff that I don't even know what it's called, but it tastes good". Since Nick Marshall led the offense in 2014, Malzahn has struggled to find consistency at the quarterback position.

Her younger sister Serena is pregnant with her first child and will miss the last three Grand Slams of the year.

Konta's exit ended a not so great couple of days for the locals, who saw hobbled, defending men's champion Andy Murray from Britain bundled out by Williams' fellow American Sam Querrey in the quarterfinals. "I think my experience helped a lot", Williams said. "And I know that they love Jo, and she gave it her all today", Williams said.

American tennis star, Venus Williams, has qualified for the Wimbledon Women Singles final for the first time since 2009.

Indeed, she was simply stronger in every department, hitting 22 winners and just 11 unforced errors as she won 60 points to Rybarikova's 33 with her backhand down the line, fundamental to her win.

Federer now avoids the looming semi-final battle against Djokovic., who has beaten him the last two times they had clashed at the Championships.

The final will be held on Wimbledon's Centre Court on July 13.

The 14th seed - who lost the 2015 final to Serena Williams - continued the onslaught in the second set as Rybarikova's throwback grasscourt game of slices, drop shots and lobs was unable to compete with the Spaniard's firepower.
