3 militants killed in encounter in Tral

Two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight between militants and government forces in Satoora village of Tral area in Pulwama district of southern part of Kashmir valley, Police officials said.

He said the exchange of fire is continuing and that some of the terrorists may have entered a cave in the area.

"The dead militants look like foreigners, probably belonging to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit", Vaid said. The officials have still not removed the bodies of the two militants who were killed in the encounter, the police official further added.

Additional security forces have been rushed to the spot and entire areas is being sealed to foil any attempt by the militants to escape.

One more terrorist is believed to be holed up in the area.

The encounter started at around 8 am Saturday morning when troops of 190 Bn, 42 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) went for search and cordon operation after they received information of presence of two to three terrorists in the area.

As per sources, the terrorists were planning major strikes on state highways. The encounter broke out when the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security personnel.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi today.
