BCCI forms four-member committee to finalise assistant coaches

Earlier there were reports which said that Shastri was unhappy with the appointment of Zaheer as bowling coach as he wanted to bring his trusted man Arun for the job.

India cricket team coach Ravi Shastri is scheduled for a meeting on July 18 with the four-member panel over the appointments of the coaching staff. Asked about this, the BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said: "I'm not aware of this".

In yet another twist in the never-ending saga of the hunt for India's new coach, the appointments of Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan as overseas Tests batting and bowling consultants respectively were effectively put on hold by the Committee of Administrators on Saturday (July 15).

On July 10, the CAC had picked up Ravi Shastri as head coach and appointed Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid as overseas bowling and batting coach.

Days after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team and Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid as bowling and batting consultants respectively, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has clarified Zaheer's involvement as a support staff. CAC member Sourav Ganguly has stated that the new bowling consultant will be offered a contract of 150 days per season.

There has been a lot of confusion about the newly appointed support staff of the Indian cricket team.

"And we have reacted to each one of those things". Rai said CoA will continue to be in touch with the CAC through the process but stressed they had to ascertain if Dravid and Zaheer were available and clear of conflict of interests.
