Jose Mourinho Wants To More Manchester United Signings

"And we didn't arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid".

Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho held his first news conference of the summer yesterday at UCLA, where the team is now training for their summer exhibition tour.

United were only willing to go as high as £60m for the Spaniard but Real Madrid wanted around £75m as they looked to fund a move for Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.

Chelsea are now being linked with Morata instead, but Mourinho says United did all they could to try to thrash out a deal. It is obvious, it is public and we have not reached an economic agreement.

"I don't like to speak about players who aren't ours, because Morata is not our player".

Chelsea will refuse to pay £80m to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports in the Spanish media.

United have already secured the signatures of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, with Mourinho said to want either Matic or Eric Dier in addition to Ivan Perisic. We do not determine what the price is of a player of Real Madrid, Real Madrid do that.

He said: "I can't say any word about a player who is a Chelsea player, it's hard it's the same with Morata, we have to respect the player, the club, the owner, the manager, I don't want to be disrespectful".

'(We made) offers we thought were fair and yet no agreement was reached'.

Mourinho is apparently looking to beef up his midfield options for the upcoming season and believes the 28-year-old would be the ideal player to eventually replace the ageing Michael Carrick.

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is thought to be closing in on a switch to Serie A giants AC Milan despite Chelsea boss Antonio Conte being a big admirer of the centre-half.
