Taggart dismisses Darren Carrington from football program

The Oregon Ducks have dismissed senior wide receiver Darren Carrington from the program, head coach Willie Taggart announced on Friday night in a released statement.

"I have visited with Darren Carrington and informed him that he is no longer a member of our program".

OR had indefinitely suspended Carrington following his July 1 arrest.

Earlier Friday, Carrington appeared in a since-deleted post on the Taylor's Bar and Grill Instagram account.

"If we can have a team full of Darren Carringtons when it comes to competing, we'd have a hell of a football team", Taggart said following Carrington's four-catch, three-touchdown performance in the April 29 spring game. "We all know you can make everyone forget about one poor decision!"

Connie and Chris, from west London, hope the new information will convince Mr Justice Francis to let them take Charlie to America. A British judge says it is inexcusable that a hospital treating critically ill baby Charlie Gard has been abused and threatened.

OR hired Willie Taggart as its new head coach this offseason, replacing Mark Helfrich, whom the team replaced following a 4-8 year.

More details to come as this story develops. Carrington led the Ducks in receiving yards previous year, catching 43 passes for 606 yards and five touchdowns.

OR is scheduled to open the 2017 season on September 2 against Southern Utah.

In the fall, Carrington was accused of pushing a man and breaking the man's arm while dressed like the Joker for Halloween. Police stopped him in downtown Eugene after receiving a call of a possibly intoxicated driver. He also was cited for careless driving and making an improper turn, according to the Register-Guard. Carrington graduated in June with a degree in sociology.
