Who Is the Russian Lobbyist Who Met the Trump Team?

"I. call for the revoking of the security clearance for Jared Kushner".

"It was not a campaign issue at that time and there was no follow up", he said.

This morning, we were treated to more breaking news.

Mr Akhmetshin has denied that he worked for Russian military intelligence service known as the GRU, saying he served in the Soviet Army from 1986 to 1988 after he was drafted but was not trained in spy tradecraft.

Who is Akhmetshin? A lobbyist who strongly opposes the Magnitsky Act, a 2012 law imposing stiff sanctions on Russian government officials suspected of facilitating human rights violations. Other reports characterized an unnamed attendee as a "former Russian counter-intelligence officer" and a friend of Russian singer and billionaire scion Emin Agalarov.

He added that while he preferred a phone call, he "decided to take the meeting" because the lawyer was in NY. He lived years ago in Russia, and worked for the Russian-owned Gazprom Media after returning to the United States.

The recently revealed emails by Donald Trump Jr. confirm a lot of things.

In this July 11, 2017, photo, Donald Trump interviewed by host Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel television program.

Recreation sites now closed across Cariboo Fire Centre
Skrepnek said more burns were planned for fires around Williams Lake, 150 Mile House and Ashcroft . A deputy chief is also in Williams Lake to assist in resource deployment decisions.

The leader of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, urged Trump honor Grassley's request that he testify.

BENNETT: And we now know that it wasn't everything.

He said he "actually expected more serious" discussion. Remember; he said it ended up being a waste of time. A spokesman for Kushner did not respond to inquiries, nor did Trump Jr.'s attorney.

Emails showed that the meeting was pitched to Trump Jr, the eldest son of President Donald Trump, as a chance to obtain dirt on Clinton, allegedly supplied by the Russian government.

MCEVERS: What could this development mean for the ongoing Russian Federation investigations? He said he is willing to talk with the Senate Judiciary Committee. That President Trump's campaign officials had contact with Russian connections. Meanwhile, one of Kushner's top lawyers is stepping aside from the Russian Federation investigation. So earlier this spring, though, Grassley flagged a warning about Akhmetshin, naming him in a complaint for failing to register as a foreign agent as the law requires while he, Akhmetshin, was doing lobbying work on behalf of the Kremlin.

Akhmetshin is a registered lobbyist for Veselnitskaya's organization that has focused on overturning the American sanctions against human rights abusers in Russian Federation, according to lobbying records.

Alan Futerfas, the attorney retained by Donald Trump Jr., told NBC News two other people accompanied Veselnitskaya to the meeting - someone Futerfas described as a translator and someone he described as a "friend of Emin [Agalarov]'s and maybe as a friend of Natalia [Veselnitskaya]'s".

Trump Jr. and his allies say that the meeting was so unimportant that he simply didn't think it was worth mentioning after it was completed. And if his name sounds familiar, yes, he is related to the Baseball Hall of Famer by the same name. "We've seen this pattern again and again, where inexperience leads to very poor judgment, which leads to embracing mistakes and legal trouble".

"We were reviewing it before the stories from last weekend, and we are continuing to review it", Foy said.
