France seeks end to Saudi-bloc measures that have split families

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who will be visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Bahrain tomorrow, has expressed the need for resolution to end the Gulf crisis.

Saudi Arabia has demonstrated its leadership in the fight against terrorism, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in Jeddah Saturday.

Qatar's foreign minister welcomed France's support for mediation aimed at finding a solution "based on constructive dialogue. and respect of state sovereignty and global law". Doha refused to comply with the demands.

Saudi Ambassador to Khartoum Ali bin Hassan Jaafar earlier this month urged Sudan to take "clear stance" on the ongoing Gulf crisis, accusing Qatar of seeking the backing of two states with regional ambitions, Turkey and Iran. In return, the four countries vowed to impose further sanctions on Doha.

Le Drian spoke alongside his counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Doha today.

7.2M pounds of hot dogs and sausages recalled
The Bronx, N.Y. establishment produced the hot dog products and sausage items between March 17 and July 4, 2017. Complaints received through the FSIS hotline stated that pieces of bone were found in the product.

Phillips' report notes FIFA President Gianni Infantino told a Swiss website, The Local, about the contents of the letter received from the boycotting countries.

The Qatari foreign minister, for his part, welcomed France's support for mediation in the row aimed at finding a solution "based on constructive dialogue. and respect of state sovereignty and global law".

Le Drian, who will visit the UAE and Gulf mediator Kuwait on Sunday, follows in the steps of other world powers in the region, including the United States, whose Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sought to find a solution to the impasse this week.

Sheikh Mohammed, in an apparent reference to punitive measures leveled against Doha by the bloc, said curbing terrorism could not be carried out through "practicing political and intellectual terrorism against a state".
