Alves' Urges Verratti To Snub Barca

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde remains relaxed amid his team's pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

Barcelona are desperate to land Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti, but the Italy worldwide is likely to command a world-record fee.

Barca manager Ernesto Valverde has insisted that both midfielders will remain at the club, even though there is interest in the pair from clubs across Europe.

He told Cadena Cope: "Verratti can become a key player for Barça, and we always have to fight to attract the big players".

Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has already confirmed the club's interest in landing Italy worldwide, Verratti, even stating that the player himself wants to move to Camp Nou. "But my idea is always to work with the players in my squad".

"He can play in different areas of the pitch and we know he can play deeper and help construct the play but it is in the final third where we want him to finish up; that's where he really makes the difference for us". "The important thing is that Iniesta is happy in the team, then we'll see what the season brings".

Asked about potential midfield targets Fernandez added: "It would be good if he could play in all three of the midfield positions because if he can only play in one it limits his opportunities".

However, according to recent reports, Barcelona will have to think twice before shipping out Rakitic as the heartthrob of the club Lionel Messi is a close friend of Rakitic and wants the 29-year-old to be kept at all costs.

Verratti has scored six times in 201 appearances for PSG following a move from Pescara in the summer of 2012, and the midfielder has won 15 domestic trophies during his time in Paris.
