Honda Accord is the first FWD sedan to get 10-speed transmission

It's therefore a pretty big deal when such a successful model undergoes a major restyle, and Honda has probably gone a little further with its recently unveiled 2018 Accord than some commentators may have expected. Even the auto gets new engine options, including 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mills, which also comes with the Civic Type-R. The main novelty is the new 10-speed automatic transmission, but again with the Sport you can bundle the six-speed manual.

The all-new tenth-generation Honda Accord was recently revealed at an event in Detroit, the spiritual home of the USA auto industry. While the normal motor makes 189PS and 260Nm of peak torque, the larger motor can give out a maximum torque of 250PS and 370Nm.

According to a January report from Busines Insider, the Honda Accord is the ninth best-selling vehicle in the United States, with 345,225 Accords sold to Americans in 2016 alone. However, the 2018 model of Honda accord will not be offered in the existing 3.5-litre, V-6 and the 2.4-litre, I-4. The sleeker body sits on a lighter chassis, that is claimed to be more rigid than the one used in the current model. With a roomier cabin, Honda is betting high on clinching back the lost market share from the SUVs and crossovers in Detroit. Its safety features include a full suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies that come as standard equipment and includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition. While the deliveries of the 2018 Honda Accord will start soon in the US.

Honda might have discontinued the Accord in some markets over the a year ago or two, but it's still a big success in other places such as the United States where it's now the biggest-selling model in the midsize sedan segment of the market.
