Kirk Cousins 'open to doing deal' with Washington next year

Kirk Cousins 'open to doing deal' with Washington next year

Don't expect Kirk Cousins to have a long-term contract signed with the Redskins by the NFL's franchise deadline at 4 p.m. ET Monday.

This means that Cousins will play under the franchise tag for the second year in a row and will make over $23.9 million during the 2017 season, according to Spotrac.

The 49ers' quarterback of the future literally won't be a 49er until the future, though the clock on that is about to really start ticking. Both years, Cousins has signed the tag, willing to risk a potentially career-ending injury instead of holding out. And, on Sunday, that was all but confirmed with just over 24 hours before the July 17 deadline to sign franchise tagged players.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins #8 of the Washington Redskins warms up before a football game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on December 26, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shanahan used to be the offensive coordinator in Washington when Cousins broke into the league.

Kingdom Hearts III Release Date Confirmed for 2018
We see Kingdom Hearts hero Sora taking on countless Heartless before he, Goofy and Donald arrive in the Toy Story universe. It only exists in Kingdom Hearts 3 '. "I'm sure fans have been anticipating the inclusion of this world for many years".

Former Redskins general manager Charlie Casserly believes by not signing a long term contract, Cousins remains in a position of power.

And if there is no deal, then Cousins is on the franchise tag; once the season is over, Washington could franchise tag him yet again; but that would lead to a 40 percent raise - to $34.5 million - and that is a tough one for any team to swallow. And the two sides haven't come close to doing a deal in two years now. This may sound like a broken record for Redskins fans, but at least Cousins is stating that he wants to explore free agency.

The transition tag would allow Washington to match any offer Cousins received from another team. The clock is ticking for that negotiation, and if it expires without a new deal, Cousins and the 49ers will be the next ones on the clock for 2018.
