Marvel Powers United VR: Disney unveils its first Marvel virtual reality game

The game will be a cooperative experience and Disney is planning to announce additional characters at San Diego Comic Con.

Disney's D23 Expo covers all aspects of its entertainment empire, and today the studio revealed that virtual reality is coming to the Marvel universe. Powers United VR allows players to play as some of their favourite characters from the Marvel universe, as they embark on a journey to "reclaim the Cosmic Cube and restore order to the universe".

Plus, since Marvel Powers United doesn't launch until 2018, and the press release promises "more than a dozen playable characters", I'm cautiously hopeful that the final lineup will be more inclusive. This co-op multiplayer title puts up to four players in control of their favorite Marvel heroes as they fight together to take out infamous Marvel villains, complete missions, and compete for high scores.

Kingdom Hearts III Release Date Confirmed for 2018
We see Kingdom Hearts hero Sora taking on countless Heartless before he, Goofy and Donald arrive in the Toy Story universe. It only exists in Kingdom Hearts 3 '. "I'm sure fans have been anticipating the inclusion of this world for many years".

There's a fourth character on the roster that doesn't get any air time in the trailer, a certain Ronan the Accuser. And finally as Captain Marvel, well, you'll get to shoot energy from your hands. This time is designed for virtual reality helmets Oculus Rift and controllers Touch. Make sure to check out the announcement trailer below, featuring Captain Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, and The Hulk.

Facebook, however, has been rather secretive regarding the sales for the Oculus Rift, and with exclusivity deals like the one for Marvel Powers United, it's not hard to see why some gamers would want to avoid supporting the Rift.
