Sox get even, earn split with Yankees

The Yankees won Game 1 of their doubleheader with the Red Sox on Sunday, but things didn't go as well for NY in the nightcap. "And you've got to be able to get back there in time". "You have to move on and we still had one more inning, one more out too in that inning". On Sunday, Chapman recorded his first strikeout of the weekend and gave up a single to Dustin Pedroia before retiring Mookie Betts on a grounder for his ninth save in 12 attempts. "I thought it had a chance", the 25-year-old slugger said.

It was also 3-0 in the nightcap when Judge, the victor of the All-Star Home Run Derby, came up with a runner on first and launched one toward the 420-foot marker in center. What should have been an Aaron Judge home run wound up in the glove of Jackie Bradley Jr., who made a remarkable leaping catch above the short wall of the center field triangle.

MLB.com's Statcast measured the ball struck by Judge, who leads all of baseball with 30 home runs this season, at an exit velocity of 107.5 miles per hour and a launch angle of 32 degrees.

"I didn't look tired in the Derby, did I?"

"Not good. We wanted to come out, especially with Boston in first place, and try to shorten that lead a little bit, " Judge said.

It added that SEMA had deployed Emergency Rapid Response team to evacuate the body and provide medical assistance to the injured. The youth armed with clubs and sticks smashed one of the SEMA's vehicles and prevented the team from carrying out its mission.

"I feel good. I had four days off. (I'm) fresh and ready to go".

"He's just missing pitches", Joe Girardi said. "We knew at some point he'd go through that". Trailing by three and with a runner on, Judge sent David Price's offering deep to center field.

Yesterday's doubleheader - and really, this entire four-game series to start the second half - exposed what was already known to be true. Lefty Caleb Smith and right-hander Domingo German were recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to bolster a taxed bullpen but not used.

Michael Pineda (partial tear, right elbow ligament) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Bird could receive another cortisone shot and resume another minor-league rehab stint, though surgery remains an option.
