The latest casting announcement comes courtesy of Omega Underground, who tell us that Hugh Jackman has boarded the project as Scar.

He can get that grizzled voice down pat and is distinct enough from Jeremy Irons' original - so it all makes sense.

UAE FM warns Qatar is 'undermining' GCC allies
The officials told the Post they do not know whether the UAE had a direct hand in the hacks or whether they hired outside help. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was previously known to be working with Qatar to probe the hacking.

Disney also teased its live action remake of its animated classic Dumbo, which has been given a March 29, 2019 release date. But Favreau proved with The Jungle Book that the technology developed to bring these animals to life through CGI did create an immersive new adventure that justified its existence. One can only wonder who will be added to the cast, which is already shaping up nicely with Donald Glover as Simba, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumba, John Oliver as Zazu and James Earl Jones returning once more as the voice of Mufasa. Of course, there's also the fact that Jackman has the musical chops to make this work and his intensity and strong, commanding voice means that he's pretty much the ideal choice to play the villain.

The sequence ends with Rafiki marking Simba and then presenting him by holding him up over the animals gathered at Pride Rock. Not only that, Jackman is an accomplished singer and has a soft spot for musicals - so signing on to The Lion King, which will no doubt feature some of the music from the original, seems right up his alley. The crowd, not unsurprisingly, went nuts and that was all there was to say about The Lion King. "People want to know what our approach is, what are we doing?" With Disney's live-action panel at D23 set to begin any moment, this could be confirmed very quickly. Note: Disney has not stated when and if it will release this first look at the film. The Lion King is set to hit theaters on July 19th, 2019.
