US Senate delays vote on health bill as McCain recovers

McConnel's announcement has reached another obstacle in GOP efforts, backed by President Donald Trump, to cancel and replace Obamacare after years of promises. Cruz's additions to the bill has garnered widespread conservative support in the Senate, but has left many moderates cold.

"The longer the bill is out there, the more conservative Republicans are going to discover it is not repeal", Sen.

Two of the 52 GOP senators have already said they will oppose the legislation.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is trying, for the third time, to get his colleagues to take up health care reform. Medicaid- a social health care program for families and individuals have limited resources. His office said he would spend next week in Arizona recovering from the surgery, leaving McConnell short of the votes to move forward.

One optimistic way to view the vote delay is that it now gives some of the wavering and undecided GOP senators more time to think and negotiate. Rand Paul (RKy.) said Sunday in an interview with CBS. The second is whether modifying the bill in a House-Senate conference would be likely to yield better results than letting it die.

The AMA says GOP leaders took a "positive step" by adding $45 billion for treatment to help victims of the opioid epidemic.

"I would respectfully disagree with the Vice President's analysis", the Maine senator said. "Those include very deep cuts that would affect some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including disabled children, poor seniors. If you work with Democrats that's not going to happen".

In the short span of a lap, Hamilton did his best to pull away from the pack but it would all come undone on a few moments later. Esteban Ocon had recently taken to Twitter to appeal for a truce.

Senate Republicans unveiled a new version of the bill on Thursday. He is not expected back in his Washington office next week.

The provision - a version of the Consumer Freedom Option pushed by Texas Sen. It would allow those that sell Obamacare policies to also offer plans that don't adhere to all of the law's rules, including those that protect people with pre-existing conditions.

We even saw Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich's office publicly objecting to what Pence said at the NGA gathering about Medicaid in Ohio - not exactly a sign of everyone coming together.

Collins, too, criticized the amendment - calling it "unworkable".

I have never known a man more tenacious and resilient than John McCain. "Cruz's approach is not the answer", Collins said. "In fact, it creates two systems of insurance for healthy and sick people". Blue Cross and Blue Shield and America's Health Insurance, have expressed concerns about the adverse effects the proposal would have on patients and the stability of the insurance market.

"It's really perplexing, especially from the insurance companies, because all they have to do is dust off how they did business before Obamacare", Price said, referring to an amendment proposed by Sen.
