Steelers Can Now Turn Focus To Possible New Deals For Tuitt, Villanueva

A pair of former Spartans, Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins and Pittsburgh running back Le'Veon Bell, will play for the franchise tag this season.

Both sides have valid points in this conflict. Weeks later, Bell did it again - twice - with back-to-back franchise records for a single playoff game, breaking off 167 yards against Miami and 170 yards against Kansas City.

That would give them until mid-summer 2018 to work on a long-term deal again. In fact, it's entirely possible Bell could stay away from the team until mid-to-late August.

The NFL's 4 p.m. deadline for franchise tagged players to reach long-term deals with their clubs passed on Monday, leaving Bell set to make $12.1 million in base salary this season. Next year, he'll head towards an equally lucrative contract, but it may not be with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speeding driver goes airborne, lands SUV on house roof, officials say
Louis home, and the homeowner and neighbors said it's not the first time a auto has come barreling onto their property. His condition wasn't known, but fire officials say he was in and out of consciousness after the crash.

General manager Kevin Colbert says the team will "resume its efforts" to re-sign Bell next offseason. Villanueva's situation is very different than Tuitt's when it comes to leverage, however, because the Steelers can easily retain the former undrafted free agent after the 2017 season is over with a second-round restricted tender.

Bell's 157 total yards per game last season ranks third all-time for a running back. Bell's patient, pause-at-the-line running style has become his trademark and has caught the attention of many tailback peers around the league.

The Steelers have just hours left to sign their franchise player, Le'Veon Bell, to a new contract. The Steelers begin camp July 27 in Latrobe.
