DOCTOR DOOM Solo Movie In Development At 20th Century Fox

Noah Hawley, creator of both Fargo and Legion, revealed during a Comic-Con panel in San Diego that he was developing a movie for the armor-wearing monarch, a development that comes somewhat out of left field.

News of a new FF-based property at Fox seems to confirm comments made last month by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who when asked about regaining the rights to the Fantastic Four, said there were "no conversations [with Fox] and certainly no plans to do that". All he had were two words: "Doctor Doom".

Created in the early 1960's by Stan Lee and Marvel artist Jack Kirby, Doctor Doom's first appearance was in The Fantastic Four #5, which came out in July 1962.

Doctor Doom is the arch nemesis of the Fantastic Four and is a scientific genius. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Hawley is developing the feature with an eye toward directing. Portrayed by actor Julian McMahon, Doctor Doom went against the Fantastic Four in two Fantastic Four films: Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Still, Doom is an interesting enough character on his own, one with a very rich history aside from the Richards family, that he could carry a movie if handled properly. Doctor Doom's origins have been revised numerous times, but he is the consistently depicted at the braggadocios ruler of a fictitious country named Latveria.
