J&K: 3 terrorists killed in Tral, Pulwama; encounter underway

He was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries, they said.

Security forces killed three suspected militants in an encounter on Wednesday in Pulwama district's Tral region in Jammu and Kashmir.

Clashes erupted between protesters and forces in Tral area of Pulwama in which one teenager was killed. Two civilians, identified as Firdous Ahmed Khan and Aqeel Ahmad Bhat were shot dead by the state government forces during the post encounter clashes.

Justice Misra was part of the bench that awarded the death sentence to the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape case of 2012. Justice Misra, 64, will assume office on retirement of incumbent CJI Justice J S Khehar on August 27.

An official said that three militants have been killed so far.

"Soon after forces zeroed in the houses, suspected militants opened fire on forces which led to fierce gunfight", official said.

The Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir police launched the operation following a search operation that was conducted on the basis of intelligence inputs. Zakir was expelled from the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) but was later appointed Al-Qaeda head in India.
