Najam Sethi elected chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board

His election as the 30th Chairman of the PCB took place at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore where a special meeting of the Board of Governors was held in this connection. Furthermore, former PCB chairmen Khalid Mehmood and Tauqir Zia had also shown their support for Sethi, as both were of the opinion that he is a good administrator and can run the board in a good manner.

Sethi, 69, will replace Shaharyar Khan, who quit because of health and personal reasons after completing his tenure. "He has been trying to invite worldwide teams to Pakistan and he will succeed in that too".

"Our second task is to bring back global cricket to Pakistan & that's a gradual process we are working on", the new PCB Chairman said. However, the final dates and which players are expected to come to Pakistan are yet to be decided.

The three had praised Sethi for his efforts to organise the PSL, saying that Pakistan cricket has already started enjoying fruits of the country's T20 competition. That ended in May 2014 when Sethi said he would not contest elections for the chairman's post. "One point agenda, Election of Chairman PCB".
