36 dead, 13 injured in NW China road accident

The accident occurred in northwestern China's Shaanxi Province when a bus hit a wall in the Qinling tunnel on the Xi'an-Hanzhong Expressway, reported CGTN.

At least 36 people were killed and 13 others injured in an expressway accident in northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Thursday night.

Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun has ordered an investigation into the mishap, state broadcaster China Central Television reported. The World Health Organization estimates that traffic accidents kill around 260,000 people in mainland China each year - a rate of 18.8 in every 100,000 people.
