Liverpool's Jürgen Klopp: we will not sell Philippe Coutinho at any price

Liverpool insisted Coutinho, 25, wasn't for sale when turning down a £72m offer from Barca in July, which has been reiterated by the Premier League clubs' boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Catalan side, fresh from last week's €222m (Dh955.6m) sale of Neymar, increased their bid for the Brazilian on Wednesday having had an earlier €80m proposal rejected last month.

British and Spanish media have reported that midfielder Philippe Coutinho wants to leave Anfield to join Barcelona, while Virgil van Dijk is keen to join Liverpool from EPL rival Southampton. That is set in stone. Jurgen Klopp believes he is an important part of the team, and the Liverpool brass are not letting him go without a fight. "That is our plan".

Coutinho, a scorer of 14 goals last season in spite of spending six weeks out with an ankle injury, had signed a new deal with Liverpool in January. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones.

However, their latest proposal of €85 million plus €15 million in add-ons has not tempted Liverpool to allow the transfer of Coutinho to go through.

The team was participating in an exercise camp before the official start of team training on Monday. Witnesses said two players fell and the log struck Joshua in the head, causing massive injuries.

When asked what would happen if Barcelona were to offer €150m for Coutinho, Klopp distanced himself from talking about his star player specifically, but said: "Is there a player worldwide who's untouchable for other clubs?"

"It's about whether you can react and whether you must react and if you must react, do you have enough time to react and such things".

He has also established himself as a regular starter for Brazil since Tite's appointment as coach a year ago, scoring seven times in 28 worldwide appearances. Barcelona will come back, they are not just one offs, and they usually get their way. "We are not in that situation".

But they have also kept tabs on Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele.

"I think Klopp needs to make sure Liverpool challenge for the Premier League next season".
