Manafort changing legal strategy as Mueller probe expands

Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, has tapped a new legal team to represent him as government lawyers examine possible Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election, his spokesman Jason Maloni said. Their warrant sought information including tax documents and banking records.

President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has dropped the law firm that was representing him in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller. "I was very, very surprised to see it", Trump said from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Thursday, according to pool reports.

Mueller has been looking into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and any possible collusion with Trump associates. "I was very, very surprised to see it".

It was reported last month Manafort was in debt to pro-Russia interests by as much as $17 million before he joined the Trump campaign past year. "I'm very proud of what we've done at the border".

Former Justice Department officials, FBI agents, and federal prosecutors say there are a couple of reasons why the FBI opted to conduct the raid, rather than subpoena Manafort, including the need to move quickly and avoid any Fifth Amendment objections. "As of today, WilmerHale no longer represents Mr. Manafort", Jason Maloni said in the statement.

ET on NBC and the Oakland Raiders will play the Eagles in Philadelphia in the standard Monday Night Football position at 8:30 p.m. As expected, Golden State will face the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third season in a row on Christmas Day, also at Oracle Arena.

"I know Mr. Manafort - I haven't spoken to him in a long time, but I know him - he was with the campaign, as you know, for a very short period of time - for a relatively short period of time", Trump said.

Manafort had been represented by Reginald Brown of WilmerHale.

Just last month, Manafort registered as a foreign agent for past work on behalf of Ukraine, his spokesperson confirmed at the time to ABC News.
