Big day for Philly basketball fans with reports that the 76ers will make their long-awaited return to Christmas Day action, as well as the official announcement that the team was chosen to participate in the NBA London Game at O2 Arena just after the new year.

This will be the NBA's eighth regular-season game in London, and it is the second appearance for Boston and Philadelphia after playing preseason games in London and Manchester, respectively.

"I look forward to coming back to London with the Sixers after visiting for the first time this summer", Embiid said in a statement.

"The NBA is the world's most global sports property, and the Philadelphia 76ers have always had a dynamic, worldwide fanbase thanks to our remarkable on-court legacy", added Sixers CEO Scott O'Neil.

"I am delighted the NBA continues to bring the world's best basketball to our great city in what has now become a well-established and eagerly anticipated event on London's sporting calendar", said Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our dynamic team filled with exciting global players to a fan base that has a clear passion for world-class sporting events", said Sixers managing owner Josh Harris, who also owns Crystal Palace Football Club of the English Premier League.
