Summer Edition' review: Plenty to joke about

Summer Edition' review: Plenty to joke about

The four-episodes will air in prime-time before a live audience. "I'm like human cocaine".

After spending the first segment focused on the continuing turmoil in Washington, Jost and Che turned their attention to less terrifying news stories including The Emoji Movie and LL Cool J. All in all, it was pretty standard fare from the anchors who didn't really knock anything out of the park. This time around, Weekend Update Summer Edition is its own standalone season, starting roughly a month before the start of Season 43 of SNL, and with no election to buoy its longer-than-normal Update runtime of 30 minutes.

Kenan Thompson played National Basketball Association dad and world-class braggart LaVar Ball, whom Jost called a "black Trump, everyone!"

Jost also poked the president for making his controversial "fire and fury" comment regarding North Korea while seated, quipping, "Even FDR stood up when he was talking tough".

But when it came to the successes of President Donald Trump's administration, the SNL cast brought the two Trump sons in to help spin.

Kristen Bell Drops Some Knowledge About Anna Faris and Chris Pratt's Split
I mean, this makes sense-but it's easier said than done. "It has nothing to do with him being [a] bigger [star] than her". However, she does think people should be a little more understanding of the fact this is what Faris and Pratt want.

Leslie Jones stopped by to show off her "Michelle Obama arms", sound off on gym etiquette and explain that she's working out for herself. "No one cares about my meeting with the Russians anymore", Donald said.

"But last week you got some peanuts", Eric said.

"No, Eric", Don Jr. sneered.

Seemingly to distract him, Trump Jr. then handed his older brother a fidget spinner, and proceeded to tell Jost about his father's advice.

As for other comparisons, Weekend Update blew every other of the summer's few comedy offerings out of the water. The prime-time version offers a refreshing break from all the reality shows.
