Chelsea target Fernando Llorente will stay at Swansea, insists Paul Clement

But head coach Clement says the 32-year-old targetman - Swansea's top scorer last season with 15 goals - will remain at the club, despite reported interest from champions Chelsea and a possible reunion with his former Juventus boss Antonio Conte.

"We won't let him go cheap, of course not".

Clement added: 'I'm confident [he will stay] because of the conversations I've had with Fernando.

"That makes us feel that if we play well and the team we are playing don't play so well, we can get a result anywhere". He's a really good player and it's a shame with the injury he got in the summer.

Sigurdsson, whether he admits it or not, wants to leave to play European football and Swansea aren't going to get the best out of him again after this saga.

As the end of the summer window draws nearer, the amount of time to bring in a replacement for Sigurdsson decreases - and Clement has called for Swansea to compromise with Everton in order to speed the process up.

"When you have a player who is contracted for three more years and there are other clubs interested in a very good player - and that has happened here before - we have a valuation of the player as do the other club and at the moment they have not met but at some point the objective is they will be met".

'The way it's going there needs to be more than likely a compromise on both sides.

Sigurdsson is set to miss Swansea's season-opening match away to Southampton as the impasse continues but Koeman said Thursday, "It's still close. That is very often how a deal is made".

"We need to find other ways, and productivity by other players". "I heard rumours that the talks broke down, but we are still in negotiations with Swansea".

"It's not an ideal situation". I think it's in the best interest with everyone involved that's not the case, and in my plans that's the situation that Gylfi will not be involved in the squad this weekend. So we're as ready as we can be.
