But United are ready to go back in for the player in the coming days.

It remains to be seen whether United will be able to agree terms with Inter this time but Perisic would be an excellent signing as he's a hard working winger who is also a real threat in the final third as he chipped in with 11 goals and 12 assists last season.

And Mourinho told Premium Sport: "Football is a business and, if we were to play against Inter tomorrow I would want to beat them, which is normal". They're strong, they put up a good defense to keep someone who's an important player for them.

"The truth is that since I left, all Inter coaches have had the same messages from me", he added.

'He [Spalletti] received the same message I gave to Gasperini, Ranieri, Mazzarri... with all those who came to Inter there are too many to name.
