Philippe Coutinho Issues Transfer Request After Liverpool Snub Barcelona Again

Liverpool's owners have said that "no offers for Philippe Coutinho will be considered" after two approaches from Barcelona.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has reportedly handed in an official transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Barcelona. However, the Spanish publication Sport suggested that the La Liga giants will be pushing for a transfer as they believe the player is open to the idea of joining them this summer.

According to reports from the Guardian, Coutinho requested his transfer via email, but the Reds have rejected it straightaway.

When the owners of Liverpool Football Club, Fenway Sports Group, issued a statement on Friday morning, a feeling of relief would have flown over Jurgen Klopp.

If FSG have said something like this, then that's the statement.

It wasn't long until reports emerged that Philippe Coutinho had himself emailed in a transfer request. I've said about it a few times, but maybe it's not been 100% clear.

A member of Coutinho's family has told Sky Sports News that the player feels aggrieved at the way he has been treated by manager Klopp.

Paris Saint-Germain paid a world-record €222million to meet the Brazil forward's release clause last week, a move Rivaldo hopes will ultimately improve his old club's spirit and resolve.

Coutinho's actions are a surprise, because when players officially ask to leave, they usually prefer to do it through their representatives.

Jurgen Klopp informed Coutinho that he would not be allowed to leave Liverpool after Barcelona's initial bid last month during a pre-season tour of Hong Kong.

Barcelona can discuss personal terms with Coutinho, but in the end that will not matter because they will still have to convince Liverpool to part ways with their best player.

Daniel Sturridge also looks set to miss Saturday's trip to Vicarage Road with a thigh injury, joining Coutinho, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana as players now unavailable to Klopp.
