Same manager, same tactics, better players - Guardiola lays out Man City blueprint

Same manager, same tactics, better players - Guardiola lays out Man City blueprint

It's very rare a transaction doesn't go through eventually, as we saw with Neymar.

"Guardiola has given the distinct impression that he is not wildly impressed with English football culture, nearly an air of disdain at times, and behind the scenes City have seen him be intense, irritable and demanding", says Matt Dickinson of The Times.

Gabriel Jesus is hoping the competition between him and Sergio Aguero can inspire Manchester City to greatness this season.

Many pundits have made City their preseason favourites but, ahead of their Premier League opener at Brighton on Saturday, Guardiola does not feel under any more strain to deliver silverware.

"So yes we'll look at as many good experiences as we can do, and that's for the whole of the season, not just the start". I think it will be a draw.

"Looking back 12 months, the 10 straight wins that City recorded from the big kick-off in 2016-17 eventually turned out to represent a false dawn".

"For us there are some great examples of teams that have gone up and stayed up".

With plenty of time until deadline day, The Grapevine has the very latest football transfer news from the Premier League's top clubs in our round-up below.

"The last six or seven years Manchester City didn't buy full backs. I'm calm and I'm ready to help my team".

"Going forward, I don´t think that there is anyone who can match us because we have so many attacking options and great players".

"We know better, I know better and they know me better". I'm not going to say we are going to play all the season in that system, we are going to play different systems, but the fundamentals will be the same.

The 23-year-old has impressed in preseason - other than an error in the International Champions Cup defeat to Manchester United - and has already showed the ball skills that Guardiola demands from his keepers.

Asked about extra pressure, he added: "It's the same pressure as I had last season".

"Anthony Knockaert seems to be one of Brighton´s better players".

A superb first 11 with top scorer Harry Kane and a dynamic midfield it's hard to look past Spurs reaching the upper echelons of the league once again.

Sane, who cost City a reported fee that could rise to £46.5million, scored five goals in the Premier League as City ended Pep Guardiola's first season in charge without a trophy. I am backing him to deliver this time around, though.

The Citizens have signed Mendy, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Ederson and Danilo this summer. City, backed by the UAE, have again spent fortunes in the summer transfer market.

What happens here will be absolutely no indication of what will happen to the Seagulls this season - that will come when they play the teams that I think will be down in the bottom six.
