Wisconsin father and daughter drown in Lake Suprior

A man from Osceola and his daughter, from Hudson, died Thursday after they went missing while swimming in Lake Superior.

Rescuers were called just before 4:30 p.m. after a girl and a man "disappeared in the waves" and their family did not see them surface for several minutes, according to a news release from the Duluth Fire Department.

The missing girl was found at about 5:22 p.m., and her father was found just after 6 p.m.

However, Kim was not violating any laws as her son was in the weight allowances to sit forwards in the auto seat. Some pointed out that the toddler should be in a rear-facing seat for his safety. "The rule is 2 years old".

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department and Rescue Squad, Duluth Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard and Duluth Police Department participated in the search. The Sheriff's Office reported that the 911 caller said the two swimmers were in distress while in the water, and then couldn't be located in the high waves. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Five total rescue boats helped with the search, slowed down by 5 to 7 foot waves hitting near the shore. As she was carried to an ambulance on a stretcher, searchers turned again to the water to find the man. "Stay out of the water regardless of your swimming experience", the fire department reported Thursday morning. Public beaches at Park Point are closed. Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the water. "That's why we issue those warning, but sometimes people aren't aware of what's going on".
