They said that injured were shifted to SDH hospital Yaripora and District Hospital Kulgam.

Two soldiers were killed and six security personnel were injured in two separate encounters in Kashmir.

Reports from the village said stone-pelting protesters clashed with the security forces in the village to break the cordon around the village.

Two soldiers have been killed in Kashmir's Shopian district where security forces were locked in a gunfight with suspected militants since Saturday evening, army officials said on Sunday.

Both the injured have been hospitalised, he said.

The report further added that after receiving the information, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), special operations group and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were immediately deployed in the area to gun down the terrorists.

Police said three militants are believed to be holed up inside the village.

Police strongly denied rumours that a mosque was damaged during the gunfight between the security forces and the militants.

A police official said a body was lying at the encounter site.
